As early as 1940, graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. begun to realize the importance of the prestige, good will and cooperation of women who had not earned a bachelor’s degree and therefore were not eligible to be members of the organization. In 1948 at the National Convention, Zeta Amicae was established as an auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. The name Amicae means Friends in Latin. The first charter was given to Lambda Zeta Chapter of Houston, Texas.
Amicae are women who believe in and support the ideals of the Sorority. Today, these auxiliaries render invaluable services to the sorority and their communities. They are located in areas wherever there are active graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Pearlettes are pre-school to elementary age young girls (4-8) who want to emulate Zeta’s ideals of community service, friendliness to others and Finer Womanhood. Through various programs sponsored by our chapter Pearlettes gain greater self-esteem, lasting friendships and learn how to get along with others.
Amicettes are girls 9 to 13 years of age who are willing to strive toward the high ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and who demonstrate potential for leadership in service to the community. Through various programs sponsored by our chapter Amicettes are given opportunities to learn about themselves, help others and internalize qualities that will make them good students and community citizens.
Archonettes are high school-aged young ladies who demonstrate an interest in the goals and the ideals of scholarship, sisterly love, and community service. Through various programs sponsored by our chapter, Archonettes gain greater self-esteem, lasting friendships, cultural enhancement and leadership skills.
The Zeta Male Network (ZMN) is the second auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. The Zeta Male Network is open to men in the lives of the women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority: Zetas, Amicae and Youth. These men include, but are not limited to, spouses and significant others, fathers, sons, brother, Sigmas, clergy, community and civic officials, other Greek-letter organizations, and business professionals. Whether they are friends, family, or colleagues, these men are committed to helping support the efforts of the Sorority and Chapter.
