               Amelia Hunt Birchette's enthusiasm for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated underscores her strong belief in service to others. A 3rd generation blue and white legacy (Rev. S.R. Williams, grandfather; Elva Williams Hunt, Ph.D., mother), she has energetically served Zeta since her initiation into the Tau Theta Chapter at the University of Virginia in the spring of 1990. Soror Birchette has provided leadership within and beyond her local chapter and has held elected and appointed state and regional offices, including her tenure as State Director for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2012-2018. Challenged by PIGB Mary Breaux Wright to Build on the Principles of Zeta while Blazing New Paths, Soror Birchette supported the establishment of 6 graduate chapters, 7 Amicae auxiliaries, and reactivated 4 undergraduate chapters as State Director. A Zeta Organizational Leadership (ZOL) Certified, Diamond Life Member, Soror Birchette’s proudest moment as State Director was the opportunity to pin her mother as a Zeta Dove (50+ year member) during the 2014 Grand Boulé. On August 9th, 2022, Dr. Stacie N.C. Grant, 26th International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, appointed Soror Birchette as Eastern Regional Director.   Amelia Birchette earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from the University of Virginia. After additional postgraduate work in Educational Administration and Supervision at UVA, Soror Birchette began a career in school leadership. In 2020, DC Public Schools hired her to open their first standalone early childhood school and then tasked her with opening a second new school the following year. Birchette now lives and works in Washington, DC where she serves as principal of Thaddeus Stevens Early Learning Center and Military Road Early Learning Center. She married her college sweetheart, Sigma Bro. Reggie Birchette, in December 2021
